2014

Establishment of CARF

The Center for Applied Research in Finance (CARF) was founded to advance research in financial management, corporate finance, and financial technologies. The Center for Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation was established to strengthen financial governance and enhance market transparency.

2023

Merger and Expansion

In 2023, CARF underwent structural consolidation and expansion, integrating research capabilities in corporate governance, financial regulation, and financial technologies under a unified institutional framework. This merger strengthened interdisciplinary collaboration and expanded the Center’s research scope and operational capacity.

2025

Recognition as Advanced Research Center

On June 3, 2025, CARF was officially recognized as a National Research Infrastructure under Law No. 6550 and designated as an Advanced Research Center for the 2025–2030 period.
The Center focuses on three core research areas:
– Blockchain and Financial Technologies
– Sustainability and Finance
– Corporate Finance and Governance
Strategic objectives include expanding doctoral research capacity, securing externally funded research projects, increasing high-impact international publications, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

Research Themes and Impact

Research spans ESG integration, sustainable finance, environmental impact assessment, infrastructure finance, carbon market development, blockchain applications, and financial disclosure and transparency practices. CARF contributes to policy design, financial innovation, and the integration of sustainability principles into Türkiye’s financial system and capital markets.

National Hub for Sustainable Finance

CARF serves as a national and international research hub at the intersection of finance, sustainability, and technology, supporting Türkiye’s transition toward a sustainable financial system.
