As part of the Horizon Europe–funded FORCE project (Fostering Optimal Regulatory Compliance for Cryptocurrencies), the Center for Applied Research in Finance (CARF) continues to contribute to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of blockchain analytics, AML/CFT, regulation, and financial integrity.
In a recent joint session at Boğaziçi University held together with FORCE consortium partners GridData GmbH (GD) and JEDI, we discussed “Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies for AML Research in FORCE” and reflected on a key reality:
As crypto-asset ecosystems evolve into global financial infrastructure, AML capability is no longer a compliance afterthought. It is a core enabler of trust, innovation, and cross-border collaboration in Europe.
Together, we explored how the FORCE consortium advances:
– Translation of blockchain transparency into actionable regulatory insight
– Alignment of technical innovation with MiCA and EU AML frameworks
– Strengthened banking access and anti-money laundering
– Enhanced sanctions, safety, and strategic sovereignty through collaborative foresight
These discussions reaffirm that FORCE is not merely a technical research initiative but a governance and capacity-building effort designed to strengthen Europe’s financial and regulatory ecosystem over the long term.
