Dr. Aysun Herges is a Chief Researcher at the Center for Applied Research in Finance (CARF). She is an accomplished investment professional and academic with over 20 years of international experience in quantitative finance, portfolio management, and digital assets. She holds a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from Middle East Technical University (1992), an MSc in Applied/Numerical Mathematics from Brunel University in London (1994), and a PhD in Applied/Numerical Mathematics from the same institution (1999).
Dr. Herges began her financial career at Citigroup Asset Management (formerly Salomon Brothers) in Frankfurt, where she progressed from Quantitative Analyst to Portfolio Manager of Fixed Income. She managed global portfolios in multiple currencies, employing quantitative modeling techniques to optimize portfolio structure and investment selection. In 2008, she joined Türkiye İş Bankası’s Frankfurt office within the Treasury and Financial Institutions Department.
Since 2013, Dr. Herges has been a U.S.-licensed Investment Advisor Representative and Commodity Trading Advisor at Herges Capital Management. She advises and manages diversified investment portfolios across a range of asset classes including digital assets. Since 2019, she has also served as Project Trainer and Advisor for a global behavioral science initiative led by the Common Cents Lab at Duke University’s Center for Advanced Hindsight, in collaboration with the CARF Research Center at Boğaziçi University.
Dr. Herges also holds a Global Master’s in Blockchain Technologies from IL3–Universitat de Barcelona (2023). Her academic and professional credentials in blockchain and digital finance are further supported by executive education and certifications from MIT Sloan School of Management, the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center, the RIADAC Digital Assets Council, NASDAQ Digital Advisor Academy, and GBI Blockchain Academy.
