Bilge Özdoğan Cumalı

Bilge Ozdogan Cumali completed her undergraduate studies in the Environmental Engineering Undergraduate Program at the Faculty of Engineering, Pamukkale University. She began her master’s degree in the Environmental Engineering Program at the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Suleyman Demirel University, and participated in a student exchange program, during which she studied for one semester at Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania. She subsequently completed her master’s thesis entitled Definition of Environmental Sustainability Index for University Campus”. As part of her doctoral studies at Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa, she completed her PhD dissertation entitled “Investigation of Climate Change Effect Mitigation of Thermal Wastewater Jets Discharged into the Sea by Visual Plumes Model.” This doctoral research was supported by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) 100/2000 Doctoral Fellowship Program in the priority field of Climate Change, as well as by the Marmara Municipalities Union doctoral thesis support program.

Her scientific research interests focus on climate change, environmental sustainability, marine outfall systems, and natural radioactivity. She has authored various scientific publications, including journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters at both national and international levels. In addition, she continues her research activities as a researcher within the Environmental Sustainability Working Group at the Bogazici University’s Center for Applied Research in Finance, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Nilgün Kıran Cılız.

In order to enhance her professional qualifications, she has completed training programs and obtained certifications in Quality Management Systems (TSE EN ISO 9001:2015) and Wastewater Treatment Plant Responsible Manager Certification (Municipal and Industrial Class D). Furthermore, she is a visiting lecturer at a university, where she teaches water quality and microbiology, along with environmental legislation and applications. Among her academic and community engagement activities, she also participates as a Deputy Coordinator in the Kadıköy Municipality Climate Ambassadors initiative and is involved in projects aimed at raising environmental awareness.
