ESIA Çanakkale 1915 Bridge and Approach Roads

The work was conducted together with a multinational consultancy company on behalf of the sponsoring joint- venture for the
ESIA of a major new infrastructure project involving a new bridge over the Çanakkale Straits and 90 km motorway approach
roads. The work was conducted to meet Turkish and EBRDl/IFC standards. Prof. Avcı is acting as the Project Director.
Scoping and pre-ESIA work has involved review of national EIA reports focusing on identification of gaps to meet international
standards, review of baseline information, project alternatives and preliminary stakeholder consultations, and preparation of a
pre- ESIA report to support discussions with the lenders. Within the scope of ESIA studies, the work will include collection of
environmental baseline data, conducting field surveys for ecology and archaeology, conducting regulatory reviews,
undertaking impact assessment, and planning/ organization of stakeholder engagement activities
