CARF was represented by Dr. Z. Aysun Herges, Lead Researcher, at the roundtable, which was moderated by Dr. Ian Gauci and brought together representatives from regulatory institutions, legal practice, banking and the digital asset industry. Dr. Herges presented an overview of stablecoin usage in Türkiye and the factors driving it, together with key considerations for stablecoin design and the regulatory framework. She also highlighted the importance of fostering innovation in digital finance, and of developing regulation that keeps pace with it, as Türkiye’s digital asset market matures.
The wider discussion centered on how MiCA and e-money regulation in the European Union are shaping the stablecoin market and the scope for mutual recognition across jurisdictions.
CARF thanks the Ripple team, in particular Reece Merrick, Abdallah Mukalled, and Deniz Erhan, as well as Dr. Ian Gauci and all participants, for an insightful and constructive exchange. We look forward to continuing to contribute research-based perspectives to the policy dialogue on digital assets in Türkiye.
