CARF, KRYD and FERMA Sign a Strategic Cooperation Agreement in the Field of Risk Management

Istanbul, 22 June 2026 — A strategic cooperation agreement has been signed between the Center for Applied Research in Finance (CARF), the Enterprise Risk Management Association, Türkiye ( KRYD ), and the Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA) to promote the FERMA rimap® / RIMAP (Risk Management Professional) certification programme in Türkiye and strengthen professional capacity in the field of risk management.

As part of the cooperation, KRYD President Bora Akdoğanlar and CARF founder and Chairman of the Board Prof. Vedat Akgiray came together at CARF’s headquarters on Boğaziçi University’s Kandilli Campus to sign the agreement. The agreement is regarded as an important step in a new academic and professional collaboration process that will contribute to the development of the risk management profession in Türkiye.

Developed by FERMA, the FERMA rimap® certification programme aims to recognise the knowledge, competencies, and experience of professionals working in risk management within the framework of international standards. The programme highlights risk management as an increasingly critical area of expertise, not limited to the insurance sector but relevant to finance, banking, the public sector, healthcare, actuarial science, engineering, corporate governance, and institutions operating across various sectors.

About FERMA and KRYD — Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, FERMA is Europe’s leading federation representing the risk management profession, bringing together 24 risk management associations across 23 European countries and representing over 6,800 risk managers active in a wide range of sectors. KRYD, official and only representative of FERMA in Türkiye, has been contributing to the development of enterprise risk management in Türkiye since 2009 by bringing risk management professionals together on a common platform. Through this representative role, KRYD supports the transfer of international best practices to Türkiye, the dissemination of enterprise risk management culture, and stronger connections between risk professionals in Türkiye and the European risk management ecosystem.

The Center for Applied Research in Finance (CARF) plays an important role in this cooperation through its academic expertise, research infrastructure, and educational experience. With CARF’s contribution, the cooperation aims to develop and expand preparatory training programmes for the FERMA rimap® certification, position the programme content within an academic framework, and establish a sustainable educational infrastructure in the field of risk management in Türkiye.

Within the scope of the cooperation, preparatory training programmes for professionals are planned to be launched in the short term, while a sustainable academic integration model under the umbrella of Boğaziçi University is planned for the medium and long term. The first preparatory training is targeted to take place in September 2026.

Through this cooperation, the parties aim to contribute to the development of a strong and sustainable education and certification ecosystem in Türkiye that is aligned with international standards in the field of risk management. This step, which strengthens the interaction between academia and industry, is expected to support Türkiye’s emergence as a more visible and active regional player within the RIMAP ecosystem.

The agreement is regarded as a strategic step toward expanding the reach of the risk management profession in Türkiye, training the next generation of risk professionals, and helping institutions become better prepared for the evolving global risk environment.
