CARF at the International Conference on “Pollute-less Production Possible”

Prof. Dr. Nilgün Kıran Cılız, CARF Board Member and faculty member at Boğaziçi University’s Institute of Environmental Sciences, participated as a speaker at the International Conference on “Pollute-less Production Possible,” held on 6 October 2026 at Istanbul Technical University.

The conference was organized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye, hosted by Istanbul Technical University (ITU), and held in collaboration with the OECD.

Bringing together representatives from industry, academia, finance, international organizations, and civil society, the conference focused on accelerating the green transformation of industry, the implementation of Best Available Techniques (BAT) and BAT-oriented technologies, improving environmental performance, green financing, preventing pollution at source, and best practices for the efficient use of resources.

During the panel titled “Pollute-less Production Possible,” Prof. Dr. Cılız shared insights on environmental performance scoring, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies, the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Sector Expert Project, and the relationship of these topics with relevant policies within the framework of Best Available Techniques (BAT) and BAT Reference Documents (BREFs).

We are pleased to contribute to discussions that bring together academia, public institutions, industry, and international organizations around the transition toward cleaner and more sustainable production.
