Carbon Analysis with Bioethanol Production from Agricultural Residues

Year: 2010 – 2014

Institution: Bogazici University Scientific Research Projects Coordination

Status: Completed

Within the scope of this project, the effects of selected raw materials’ chemical composition on the hydrolysis process were evaluated, and bioethanol production for the transportation sector was carried out at laboratory and pilot scales using agricultural residues (wheat straw and corn stover) that could not be properly disposed of. Bioethanol production was performed through enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation using the selected agricultural residues with different enzymes, and the resulting fuel properties were compared according to the EU biofuel standard EN 15376
